Chettikulam Ekambareshwarar Temple History :

This temple popularly known as “Kubera Temple” is located 50 kms away from the Trichy City, off the Trichy –Chennai National Highways in Chettikulam town. Another name for this temple is “ Ekambareshwarar Temple”. The presiding deity Lord.Siva is depicted as “Ekambareshwarar “ and his consort goddess Parvathi is depicted as “ Kamakshi Ambal”.

As per the legend, this ancient temple was built a Chola King named “Parantaka Chola” who ruled this place long ago in the 9th century.

About the Lord. Kubera in this Temple :

Lord. Kubera is a brother of Ravana and an ardent devotee of Lord Siva
He is known as the God of North direction representing Wealth
This temple has a very old and unique sculpture of Lord.Kubera sitting on his Fish Vahana (vehicle)
There are 12 pillars one can find in this temple distributed in Lord Siva shrine and goddess Parvathi Shrine.
Each pillar has a sculpture of a Lord.Kubera in his Fish vehicle and there are 12 kuberas representing the 12 Zodiac signs.(Rasi)
When viewed from an elevated position, these sculptures resembles the Pranava Mandhra “OM”
Lord.Kubera blesses his devotees by showering prosperity and wealth in a separate shine in the northern side, siting with wife Chithraleka on his Fish Vehicle.

Significance of Chettikulam Kuberar Temple :

This ancient Siva Temple is more than 1000 years old
This temple is an Architectural Marvel. If viewed from different directions,one could see a bull from one side and an elephant from the other side in one of the Dwarabalaka pillars of this temple situated on the western side.
There are 10 pillars in the inner corridor, producing different sounds when tapped with a dry sandal stick.
This Kubera installations in 12 different pillars for the12 zodiac signs are very rare and unique,which could not be seen in any other temple in this world.

The puja will be performed on the scheduled date either in the morning or in the evening as per the head priest's sole discretion based on other festivals and programs conducted in the temple.
Puja confirmation mail will be sent on the next day of the puja date. It's an automated mail, which will be manually intervened, only when there is a change in the puja schedule.
