Thirunaraiyur Ramanatha Swamy Temple History :

Thirunaraiyur is a small town located near Kumbakonam (9 kms) of Tamilnadu state.

This is one of the temples specifically meant for Sani Baghavan and his family. The presiding deity is Lord.Shiva, who is worshiped here as Ramanathaswamy.Goddess Parvati,his consort, is depicted as Parvathavarthini. This is the only temple in India,where Lord Saneeswara is present with his consorts and two sons namely Mandhi and Kuligan. Those, who are unable to visit Rameshwaram Ramanatha Swamy Temple ,can pray here.

As per the legend, Lord Rama and Lord.Hanuman did pujas here in this temple after their return from Lanka.This temple is believed to have been more than 2000 years old.

Significance of Thirunaraiyur Ramanathaswamy Temple :

Parihara Sthalam for Sani Graha Doshas. King Dasaratha , father of Lord Rama had sung slogas in praise of Lord Saneeswara,which is considered very powerful to get rid of Sani related doshas.
The Saneeswara in this temple is known as “Mangala Saneeswaran” , hence gives lot of boons
Pariharam for Mandhi related dhoshas
This is the only place where Saneeswaran graces with his wives Mandhi Devi and Jeshta Devi along with his two sons Mandhi and Kuligan.
