Madurai Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple History:

Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple is believed to be built before Sangam period. The Vimana of Sundareswarar is built by Lord Indra. The Golden Lotus Pond of the temple is formed with the trishul of Lord Shiva. The Velliambalam, Silver Sabha of Nataraja is there in this temple. Having 10 Towers and 05 entrances. The Mukuruni Vinayakar sannithi built by Thirumalai Naicker.

Significance of Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple :

Shiva appeared as Swayambu moorthi under a Ber Tree.
One of the 5 Sabais, where Nataraja performed cosmic dance.
Only temple where Nataraja is dancing here with raised right foot .
Meenakshi amman is made of Emarald Stone.
Meenakshi is having prime place and pujas performed to Ambal first.
Ambal is appearing in 08 different forms in 08 Kala Poojas.
Madurai is the place where Siva performed 64 leelas.
Temple having 3 crore sculptures
Temple functions take place for all 12 Tamil months.
Tamil Sangam which evaluated Tamil Literature performed from this temple.
This is considered as the primary Sakthi Peetam of Parvati.
Lord Siva is blessing devotees here as a sidhdhar called Ellam Valla Sidhdhar.
The 1000 pillars Mandapam is the biggest hall of this temple
