Thirupulivanam Vyakrapuriswarar Temple History :

Thirupulivanam village is situated 5 KMs from Kanchipuram in Uthiramerur Route. Thirupulivanam Temple is believed to be built around 1500 years. Pallava period architecture is predominantly seen in this temple and built by King Nandivarman. The presiding deity is Lord Shiva called Vyakrapreeeswarar with his consort Amirthakuchambal.

Significance of Thirupulivanam Vyakrapuriswarar Temple :

Shiva appeared as Swayambu moorthi and there are foot prints of tiger over the lingam
Hip bones of Linga are visible
The lingam appears with Jadamudi which is a rare form of Shiva.
Dakshina moorthy in this temple is called Rajasimha yoga Dakshinamurthy.
He is also called as Arthnareeswara Dakshinamoorthy.
His one leg is on Muyalakn and other on Lion. This is the only temple he is in this form.
In both Utharayana and Daksinayana, Rays of Sun fall directly on the wall without shadow of Linga which is a divine miracle.
There is tunnel inside Shiva shrine which is believed to go up to Kanchipuram . But details are not confirmed.
