Kanchanur Temple History :

TKanchanur is a small village located near Kumbakonam town (18 kms) in the state of Tamilnadu.

This is one of the nine Navagraha temples specifically meant for Sukkira Baghavan. The presiding deity is Lord.Shiva, who is worshiped here as “ Agneeswarar” , Goddess Parvati,his consort, is depicted as Karpagavalli . This temple is considered as one of the shrines of the 275 Padal Petra Sthalams of Lord Siva.One can find it glorified in the early mythological Tevaram poems written and sung by the famed 63 nayanmars.

This temple is built on in the lines of Dravidian Style of Architecture.

As per the legend, this temple is believed to have been 2000 years old. It is a world famous temple for removing all Sukkra (Venus) related dhoshas.

Significance of Kanchanur Temple :

All problems related to Sukkira doshas will be neutralized and nullified
The presiding deity Agneeswarar is worshipped here as Sukkira Baghavan.There is no separate shrine for Sukkiran. It is believed that the Lord Siva himself has incarnated as Sukkiran and hence no separate shrine for the Sukkira Baghavan in this temple.
Lord Brahma is said to have worshipped the Lord here

The puja will be performed on the scheduled date either in the morning or in the evening as per the head priest's sole discretion based on other festivals and programs conducted in the temple.
