This Temple is situated in Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur District. About seven kilo meters away from Tiiruvarur.
Since this temple is located in the Thiruvarur – Mannargudi route, one can reach Devar Kanda Nallur from Mannargudi also. It is around 20 Kilo Meters away from Mannargudi.

DevarKandaNallur - Sri KumaraSwamy Temple History :

The main diety of this Temple is Lord Muruga called here in the name of Sri Kumara Swamy.
Since Lord Sri Muruga appeared as a small child in this temple , he is called in the name Sri Kumara (Child) Swamy here.
There is a interesting story behind this. Once King “Vallala Maharaja” was rulling this province. His wife was at the final stage of her pregnancy.
Maharishis (Sage) with the blessings of God , understood that the child of Vallala Maharaja , was a evil one. That child’s birth would create lot of problems on the earth. Hence they seek the help of Goddess Parvathi Devi. She agreed to help them to save the people from the demon child.
Goddess Devi appeared before the Vallala Maharaja as a maidservant. Valla Maharaja asked her support for the delivery of his child.
Goddess Parvathi make use of this request by the Maharaja and destroyed that child.
When King Vallala came to know that his child was smashed by Goddess parvathi, he got annoyed on Parvathi Devi.
There was a heavy battle between Goddess Parvathi and Vallala Maharaja. Goddess Parvathi won the battle and killed King Vallala.
Even after the battle also the Goddess was in the wild form. No one was able to cooldown her.
Sri Vishnu took the form and name of “Peddaneswaran” and Lord Shiva in the name of “Uthandarayar” , tried to cooldown Goddess Parvathi , But they failed.
Finally Sri Muruga appear in the form of a small child ( Sri Kumara Swamy) in front of Goddess Parvathi and calm down his mother.
It is near about 1000 years old temple.

Significance of DevarKandaNallur - Sri KumaraSwamy Temple :

This village has a marvellous Tamil name “ Devar Kanda Nallur” means “Devar” (Gods from Heaven) “Kanda” (seen) “Nallur”( Nice place).
Heavenly Gods were residing in this place. Sages met them here.
Lord Sri Kumara Swamy shower his blessing with his consorts Goddesses Sri Valli and Sri Deivanai.
It is a east facing temple , so the main deity Sri Kumara Swamy’s Shrine facing the East.
There is a separate shrine for Sri Vinayagar in this temple.
Festivels like Panguni Uthiram, Vaikasi Visakam and Thai Poosam of Tamil months are being celeberated in a grand way.
Since Goddess Parvathi Devi won the battle against King Vallala, this temple is considered as a significant one. People worship in this temple to get rid of from the disturbances of known and unknown enemies.
