Thiruvellakulam – Annan Perumal Temple :

Thiruvellakulam (Thirunangur) is situated at 08 KMs from Sirkazhi.

Perumal is the presiding deity and called Annan Perumal with Goddess Alarmelmangai .

Mangalasasanam of this temple done by Thirumangai Alwar.

After destroying Dhaksha’s yaga, Shiva performed Rudra thandavam endlessly in 11 forms. To pacify him Lord Vishnu appeared in 11 forms and called Ekadasa Rudra and Vishnu Sthalams.

Significance of Thiruvellakulam – Annan Perumal Temple :

This is 39th temple among 108 Divyadesams of Perumal.
Like Thitupathi, Bramhotsavam is conducted here also.
Thirumangai Alwar mentioned Perumal as Annan (Elder brother)only at Thirupathi and here. Since he addressed here earlier than Thirupathi, he is considered elder to Perumal of Thirupathi.
