About Kanchanagram - Lord Gathra Sundareswarar Temple :

  • The temple is in the village of Kanchanagaram, which is about 10 kms. from Mayiladuthurai town, 45 kms. from Kumbakonam town, and 270 kms. from Chennai city. The Kaveri river flows nearby.
  • The prime deity is Lord Gathra Sundareswarar, a form of Lord Shiva. His consort is Goddess Thungabalasthanambigai, a form of Goddess Parvati.

Kanchanagram - Lord Gathra Sundareswarar Temple History :

  • Kanchanagaram is the birthplace of Manakanjarar, one of the 63 Nayanmars.
  • It is believed that the Krithika nymphs, who took care of Lord Muruga, were born here too.
  • It is believed that Lord Muruga was born here when Goddess Parvati merged the six divine children, that were nurtured by the Krithika nymphs, into one divine child, Lord Muruga.
  • It is believed that the divine rays from Lord Shiva which created the six divine children were golden in nature, and so this place is called Kanchanagaram.
  • The name Gathra Sundareswarar is a modification of the name Karthika Sundareswarar.

Significance of Kanchanagram - Lord Gathra Sundareswarar Temple :

  • The village of Kanchanagaram is associated with the birth of the six Krithika nymphs, who nurtured the six divine children created by Lord Shiva’s golden rays, as well as with the birth of Lord Muruga himself.
  • It is believed that those born under the Krithika nakshatram benefit immensely when they offer prayers here in this temple, especially during the Krithika nakshatram day.
  • Goddess Thungabalasthanambigai, a form of Goddess Parvati, seen holding a blue lotus, discus, and conch. There is a parrot on her shoulder, which is believed to be Lord Shiva himself.
  • Visiting the temple on Pradosham days and praying to the Goddess and the parrot is said to bestow a happy married life.

Rescheduling and Cancellation Policy

To avoid cancellation charges, please reschedule or cancel the order 72 hours before the scheduled time. For details see cancellation policy.

Cancellation Policy:
  • Your service request may be rescheduled or cancelled online through Divinvite platform (web/app)
  • The cancellation charges are mentioned hereinafter :

    • = 72 hrs -; Zero cancellation charges. 100% refund excluding convenience charges paid, if any.

    Between 72 hrs &; 48 hrs; - 25% cancellation charges &; convenience charges paid, if any.

    Between 48 hrs &; 24 hrs; - 50% cancellation charges ;&; convenience charges paid, if any.

    <=24 hrs;; - NO REFUND

  • If the order booked falls within the time frame of the above policy and cancelled afterwards by the customer, the cancellation charges will be applicable as per the above slot anyway.
  • The rescheduling ( one time) of a service is possible within the available service categories pertaining to that city; and or date; for one time only.You can change the date of the booked service prior to 72 hours and or change it from one service (booked service) to another service.
  • For rituals like Amavasya Tharpanam and all Punniyakala Tharpanams like ( Chithrai vishu, Aadi Amavasaya,Thai Amavasya,Thula vishu); NO REFUND WILL BE MADE IRRESPECTIVE OF THE TIME OF CANCELLATION).;
  • If the service professional is running late by over 60 minutes and ;the customer wants to cancel the order, then the cancellation charges will NOT be applicable
  • Due to any unforeseen circumstances or internal reasons, Divinvite reserves the right to cancel any order at any point of time and Divinvite will not be liable to anyone for the same.
  • If the visit is cancelled by the service professional or Divinvite then customer is NOT liable to pay cancellation charges.
