Thirunaraiyur is a small town located near Kumbakonam (9 kms) of Tamilnadu state.
This is one of the temples specifically meant for Sani Baghavan and his family. The presiding deity is Lord.Shiva, who is worshiped here as Ramanathaswamy.Goddess Parvati,his consort, is depicted as Parvathavarthini. This is the only temple in India,where Lord Saneeswara is present with his consorts and two sons namely Mandhi and Kuligan. This temple is built on in the lines of Dravidian Style of Architecture.
As per the legend, Lord Rama and Lord.Hanuman did pujas here in this temple after their return from Lanka.This temple is believed to have been more than 2000 years old.
