As per Hindu mythology, Sarpa Dosha arises when one has harmed or killed a snake in this or an earlier birth, or when one has hurt Lord Subramanya.
This Shanti Homam provides peace to the harmed serpent, releasing the person from the clutches of the snake’s curse.
The main event is the offering to the Sacred Fire to appease Lord Subramanya.

The prime deity of the temple is Lord Karthikeya, along with Lord Narashimha.
It is a popular pilgrimage centre of South India, known for its snake worship.
The main fairs and festivals of this temple are the Pushya Suddha Shasti, the Narasimha Jayanthi, the Skanda Shasti, and the Panghuni Uttiram.

It is estimated that the temple is more than 600 years old.
Its construction is credited to the King Ghorpade, of the Sandur dynasty.
According to legend, Lord Subramanya, in the form of a seven-hooded snake, prayed to Lord Narasimha, for the protection of the Nagas.
Lord Subramanya is said to have vanquished the demon, Ghatikasura, at this place.

It is believed that Lord Karthikeya appeared in a dream to King Ghorpade, revealing the location of the idols of the deities.
The idols of Lord Subramanya and Lord Narasimha are believed to have self-manifested in a single stone, emerging from the ground.
The idol of Lord Subramanya is in a serpentine form, and it faces the east. The idol of Lord Narasimha is behind this on the same stone and faces the west.
There exists a holy anthill, located opposite the temple, where devotees offer milk as part of one of the rituals.

The puja will be performed on the scheduled date either in the morning or in the evening as per the head priest's sole discretion based on other festivals and programs conducted in the temple.
Puja confirmation mail will be sent on the next day of the puja date. It's an automated mail, which will be manually intervened, only when there is a change in the puja schedule.
We will arrange to perform the puja either through our representatives/agents who will visit the temple in person or through the Priest of the temple himself depending upon our earlier set arrangements
