  • It is estimated that the temple is more than 600 years old.
  • Its construction is credited to the King Ghorpade, of the Sandur dynasty.
  • According to legend, Lord Subramanya, in the form of a seven-hooded snake, prayed to Lord Narasimha, for the protection of the Nagas.
  • Lord Subramanya is said to have vanquished the demon, Ghatikasura, at this place.

  • It is believed that Lord Karthikeya appeared in a dream to King Ghorpade, revealing the location of the idols of the deities.
  • The idols of Lord Subramanya and Lord Narasimha are believed to have self-manifested in a single stone, emerging from the ground.
  • The idol of Lord Subramanya is in a serpentine form, and it faces the east. The idol of Lord Narasimha is behind this on the same stone and faces the west.
  • There exists a holy anthill, located opposite the temple, where devotees offer milk as part of one of the rituals.
