Enkan - Sri Bhramapureswarar Temple :

This Temple is situated in Tamil Nadu , Thiruvarur District. Located in the Thiruvarur - Thanjavur route. About 14 kilo meters away from Thiruvarur.

The main diety of this Temple is Lord Shiva, at the same time Lord Muruga of this Temple is also as significant as Lord Shiva.

Enkan also refered as “Sameevanam”.

The Tamil sage Arunagirinathar , hyped about the lord Subramaniya swamy of this temple, in his “Thirupugazh”. Beacuse of this, the temple is also refered as “Thirupugazh Sthalam”.

It was built by a Chola king “Kulothunga Cholan II ”.

Significance of Enkan - Sri Bhramapureswarar Temple :

This temple’s Lord Shiva was worshiped by Lord Bhrama. Hence the lord Shiva refered as “Sri Bhramapureeswar”.
Since Lord Bhrama worshiped , lord shiva of this temple, with his eight eyes on his four heads , this temple refered as Enkan means eight eyes in Tamil.
By worshiping in this temple the devotee can get rid of eye related issues.
Lord Subramania swamy sitting on the Peacock. This sculpture was created by the same architect who made the idols of lord Subramania swamy , at Ettukkudi and Poravacheary temples.

There are separate Shrines for Lord Shiva, Goddess Paarvathi Devi,Lord Ganesh, Lord Subramaniya Swamy with Goddesses valli and Deivanai.
